After 6 years, Apple did this for iPhone users in the US
Since 2017, Apple hasn’t raised iPhone prices, but things may be different in September when the iPhone 15 series arrives.
The weekly financial publication Barron’s has just published a report from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives showing that Apple will increase the price of the upcoming iPhone 15 series. Ives even mentioned on CNBC that the average price (ASP) of iPhones is also increasing, which means prices for September’s new iPhone models will increase, although specific US numbers were not mentioned. .
When it comes to forecasting iPhone price increases, Ives is one of the sources with a good track record. He correctly predicted that Apple would increase the price of iPhone 14 in the international market, while the US states and in China had no price change. Some adjustments abroad are needed as last year’s currency fluctuations resulted in a stronger dollar, which means prices in other countries will have to rise.
Ives is also optimistic about Apple’s second-biggest business, Services. When referring to this business, he said that “Apple is playing chess, everyone else is playing chess”. He sees Apple’s value growing from the current $2.850 billion to $3,500-4 trillion in the next 18-24 months. Forbes notes that most analysts see Apple increasing the price of the iPhone 15, especially for high-end models with increases of up to $200.
iPhone 14 starts at $799, iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899, iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and iPhone 14 Pro Max from $1,099. Ives believes there are 250 million iPhones that haven’t been upgraded in the last 4 years, which could create an unexpected fortune for Apple if many of them replace their handsets this year.
The Wall Street analyst predicts that Apple will ship 235 million to 240 million iPhone 15 units this year. Even if Apple raises the price of the iPhone 15 to an average of $100, that would be an additional $23.5 billion in revenue.
