China built an unbeatable “super machine”: Weighing 1900 tons, capable of digging 350m underground in just 1 month

Weighing 1,900 tons, 230 meters long with a diameter of up to 9.03 meters, this tunneling machine is a testament to the “mightiness” of China’s construction industry.

If about 20 years ago, China still had to import some machinery and equipment from Germany to serve its manufacturing industry, now the “game” is different.

China manufactures a series of “super giant” machines with outstanding capabilities.

Over time, China has developed “greatly” and surprised the whole world. This country has been able to invent and manufacture a series of “super giant” machines with outstanding capabilities. For example, the “red god of war” machine weighs up to 2,000 tons and integrates many of the world’s leading technologies to help build a floor of a house in just 4 days. Or SLJ900/32 – a super bridge connecting machine weighing 580 tons, capable of assembling bridges at lightning speed.

Among those “unbeatable” machines, it is impossible not to mention the tunnel boring machine (TBM), manufactured and assembled in Kunming, Yunnan. This machine is called Cai Yun (Cai Yun), which also means “Brilliant Cloud”. It has a diameter of 9.03 meters and a width of up to 9 meters – the largest size in the world. Thai Van weighs up to 1,900 tons and is 230 meters long.

In addition, it is also integrated with a number of leading advanced functions, including a system for predicting geological characteristics and a cooling system – thereby being able to combat all risks during construction.

It is known that this giant machine was used to dig a 34km long tunnel – part of a railway project extending from Dali city to Thuy Le town in Yunnan province, China.

According to some sources, when using the Thai Van tunneling machine, construction units can dig underground an average of 350 meters per month. Previously, popular tunneling machines could only dig a maximum of 101 meters in the same period of time.

This machine can dig an average of 350 meters underground per month.

This is considered one of the meaningful projects, making China the world’s leading country in tunneling as well as raising the level of the country’s construction industry. Because about 12 years ago, China still had to import TBM tunneling machines from other countries, mainly Germany, at a huge price of up to 101 million USD/unit.

Now, China has created its own warriors to serve its construction industry, with outstanding capabilities to help sharply reduce construction costs.
