Google Photos Provides Users with Numerous Free AI Editing Features
As a frontrunner in the AI competition, Google, leveraging its technology prowess, has long been offering various editing solutions to its users. Google Photos, in particular, boasts a range of AI-powered utilities like object removal, portrait lighting adjustment, and detail enhancement, catering to device users. Originally accessible to Pixel device owners and users with a Google One subscription, regardless of their package level, these features have now been made available to all Android and iOS users at no cost since January 15th.
The eligibility criteria are tied to device specifications: Android devices must run on version 8.0 or later, while iOS devices require a minimum of version 15.0, both necessitating at least 4 GB of RAM. However, all Google Photos users can utilize AI editing tools without the need for a Google One subscription.
While free users on Android and iOS can enjoy the AI image editing tool, Magic Editor, they are limited to 10 edits and saves per month. To access more functionalities, users must either own a Pixel phone or subscribe to Google One’s premium tier, which offers 2 TB of storage per month.
Certain editing tools require downloading and installation, necessitating a Wi-Fi connection to avoid data charges and requiring at least 1 GB of free memory on the device. Nevertheless, exclusive AI features such as Audio Eraser, Best Take, and Video Boost remain reserved for Pixel 8 series users.
