Microsoft introduces new Bing search engine, with ChatGPT integration

Currently, ChatGPT is only integrated on Bing with the demo version, users must join the waiting list to be used in the near future.

After a day when Google introduced Bard as a ChatGPT competitor, Microsoft has finally shown how dangerous ChatGPT can be for Google’s search business. Microsoft has just introduced a new version of its Bing search engine, which integrates ChatGPT’s AI platform technology. With this new platform, Microsoft Promise will bring a new experience of searching for information online to customers.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said during the product introduction event. “Today is a new day for search technology. The race starts today and we will go faster and faster. Most importantly, we want to bring new joy in improving search, because the time has come.”

With the demo, the search results on Bing will be divided into 2 parts. One side is the traditional link, and the other side will be the annotations or suggestions of AI. In addition, users who want to talk directly with the Bing chatbot must use a different interface. In this interface, users will ask questions and receive the same answers as with ChatGPT.

Unlike ChatGPT, this new version of Bing can collect new information about that which has only happened recently. In the demo, the tool can also answer questions about events that happened only a few hours ago.

Microsoft says the new AI features on Bing run on an upgraded version of the GPT 3.5 big language model. Microsoft calls this the “Prometheus Model” and says it’s more powerful than GPT 3.5, helping to answer questions better with more up-to-date information.

However, it is a pity that currently can only use Bing to ask some specific questions, users who want to use the full features of Bing must join Microsoft’s waiting list in the near future. Microsoft said that users will be given priority if they log in with the correct Microsoft account, use Microsoft’s defaults and have to install the Bing application on the device. When a user joins the waiting list, Microsoft will send a confirmation email to the user and notify when accessing the new Bing experience.
