Simple ways to never catch a virus

Without using anti-virus software, you can still create a perfect defense mode for your computer, so that you will never be infected with those harmful germs.

Here are some pretty simple ways to never get a virus:

  1. Be careful of fake Play/Download buttons

Usually they are integrated on websites to trick users into clicking on it and downloading something unrelated and infecting users with viruses and malicious code. So think twice before clicking the download button. If the user is familiar with this website, thinking twice before clicking will help them know for sure whether the location of the download button has changed or not?

Check the status bar, if the domain name in the status bar is different from the open website address, it’s probably a malicious ad.

Another method is to use logic. For example, if a user downloads some software and it displays a PLAY NOW button, the user will immediately know that the button has nothing to do with it and should not click it.

  1. Never use IE browser

Even though IE9 version has greatly improved security, in fact, IE browser is still the main target of hackers because it is quite commonly used on computers today. Therefore, users should switch to another less popular browser, such as Google’s Chrome.

  1. Ignore the Pop ups

Suddenly, an anti-virus software pops up and tricks users into thinking that they have discovered a “pathogen” and asks users to download some software to fix it. However, users should not be foolish and should turn off that Pop up.

Users should ignore pop ups originating from the browser. As a general rule, ignore any security-related messages if you don’t know about them, such as clicking the SCAN button of your anti-virus software. For example, if a user receives a notification to scan the computer (Scan) from an application that has never been installed, it means that the computer is infected with a virus.

  1. Avoid public Torrent sites

Most public Torrent websites are potentially malicious and fake. Users often use Torrent websites to download movies. However, many public Torrent sites often hide many viruses and fake files for users to download. Therefore, users who love movies should visit Private tracker sites because this site is only open to members and it is very difficult to be accepted to register as a new member. They have much stricter policies than public Torrent sites.

  1. Use the VLC player program to check the downloaded movie file

If you ignore the above advice and still download some movies from public Torrnet sites, chances are they will be fake. It’s difficult to detect whether they are fake or not because of the standard size, but when running the file, users will see a message saying, you need to download a new video player. Therefore, do not download movies from public websites and use the VLC player program to test a downloaded video file.

  1. Do not open sent .exe files

If someone sends you a flash game packaged with .exe files or anything else, delete them. Be wary of files with the .exe extension attached to emails, etc.

  1. Don’t search for common utilities on Google

A worrying trend is that websites containing malicious code often rank high in Google searches for common utilities. Users think they are downloading the best video viewing program, but in reality, virus pathogens are hidden in it. Therefore, if users want to find utilities, they should go to trusted websites of software manufacturers.

  1. Create a guest account for family members

If your computer is used by many family members, you should create guest users for them to use. This will avoid these users from having the right to download malware and install it on the computer.
