The world’s thinnest laptop: HP Specter 13″
Inspired by beautiful petite women’s jewelry. HP has transformed that idea into the world’s thinnest and lightest laptop. With a thickness of only 10.4 mm and a weight of 1.1 kg, the HP Specter 13 is even thinner than the Apple Macbook 12.
With a CNC-machined frame, but HP has created a Piston hinge with a special mechanism that helps Specter 13 remain thin and the hinge is still very solid, because the screen is extremely thin at only 2mm.
The important problem that HP needs to solve is very important that is handling the temperature of the machine. Because of such a slim design, the Specter 13.3 skips the Intel Core M chip and instead uses the Intel Core-i series of chips. This is why HP had to develop something called “hybrid cooling”, two very thin fans that draw cold air from the back of the laptop and pump it inside. HP also divides the battery into 2 independent parts and is located on both sides of the machine, the battery capacity is stable and the battery life can be up to 9.5 hours.
HP Specter 13 is equipped with a 13.3-inch, non-touch screen with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, IPS panel, FullHD resolution and brightness of about 300 nits. The keys of the keyboard are quite large and backlit. Full-travel touchpad with 2 hidden hard keys in front.
To ensure the thinness of the machine, HP has equipped the Specter 13 with few ports, only 3 USB – Type C and 1 3.5mm headphone jack. In which 2 USB – Type C ports support Thunderbolt 3 and all 3 ports can act as power ports.
HP has partnered with Bang & Olufsen to equip the Specter 13 with two stereo speakers and has also collaborated with some famous artists such as J. Hanna to create special versions of the Specter 13 such as the all-glass version. gold or decorated with gold and Swarovski crystal versions. And these special editions, HP will auction for charity.
HP Specter 13 and HP Specter 13 Pro will be priced at $1169 for Intel Core i5 CPU and 256 GB SSD, respectively, or $1,249 for Core i7 version.
