With Wysips, your mobile device battery never runs out

We already have technology that allows us to locate phones when the battery is low or send messages even when the battery is depleted, but what do you think if in the future you can own a phone that never runs out of battery? It may sound unbelievable, but that’s the idea behind a groundbreaking technology called Wysips, with the ability to convert both artificial light and sunlight into electricity for use by mobile devices.

Wysips technology, short for the phrase “What You See Is Photovoltaic Surface”, is a product of SunPartner Group (France) specializing in new energy technology from sunlight.

Wysips panels can be integrated into the device screen and extend battery life by 4 minutes after 10 minutes of exposure.

It is developed using what the manufacturer calls “an optical process”. Accordingly, a layer of semi-cylindrical lens is pressed tightly with a photovoltaic crystal layer with a blocking layer, forming an extremely thin and transparent sheet of material. Photovoltaic technology has a blocking layer that converts sunlight radiation into electricity and semiconductors. Combined, they create an optical effect that amplifies the photovoltaic cell’s exposure. Finally, electricity is generated by capturing energy from natural or artificial light (light).

Wysips are 90% transparent by industry standards and are said to be invisible to the naked eye. This device can be mounted below or above the surface of phone, tablet and even smartwatch screens. The power source synthesized from light energy will be transmitted directly into the phone’s charging circuit, just like when we plug the phone charger into a power outlet or USB port. The company also claims that Wysips panels do not affect the contrast, brightness or viewing angles on the phone screen. In addition, Wysips technology can also be integrated into screens and window glass, which manufacturer SunPartner believes can turn every surface into an energy source.

SunPartner says its prototype products yield 2.5 milliwatts/cm2 when exposed to sunlight, which means allowing users to get an extra 2-4 minutes of talk time each time their phone is exposed to sunlight. light for 10 minutes. Products equipped with Wysips panels with 60-70% transparency can generate up to 10 milliwatts of electricity/cm2, helping to extend battery life by 16 minutes for every 10 minutes of exposure. Currently, SunPartner is looking to further improve the device’s light-to-electricity conversion rate.

Last month, SunPartner and smartphone maker TCL Communications announced they were working together to develop a light-powered smartphone. The first product is expected to launch in 2014. Accordingly, Wysips panels are installed right during the production process and connected to an electronic circuit to simultaneously generate electricity and manage power sources.
